Lipids and Immunological Reactions

چکیده
1. Specific precipitates resulting from the interaction of the homologous capsular polysaccharide and Type I antipneumococcus horse and rabbit sera have been analyzed by gasometric micro methods for total nitrogen, lipid nitrogen, and lipid carbon. 2. Lipid may, under certain conditions, form as much as 51 per cent or as little as 4 per cent by weight of specific precipitates. 3. The total lipid content of specific precipitates, within the range studied, is entirely independent of the protein content. 4. Lipid nitrogen forms a very small but detectable portion of the total nitrogen of precipitates. 5. The absolute lipid content of precipitates is a function of the concentration of lipid in the reacting mixture prior to precipitation, and seems to be governed by the laws of adsorption phenomena.

LIPIDS AND IMMUNOLOGICAL REACTIONS IV. Tm~ LIPm PATTERNS OF SPECIFIC PRECIPITATES FROm TYPE I ANTIPNEUMOCOCCUS SERA BY FRANK L. HORSFALL, Jm, M.D., AND KENNETH GOODNER, PH.D
I t has been shown (1) that, after the extraction of lipids, antipneumococcus horse serum fails to give type-specific agglutination or precipitation, and with antipneumococcus rabbit serum these reactions are almost entirely eliminated. If these extractive procedures are carried out in such a manner as to avoid denaturation of proteins the removal of the lipids in no way interferes with the fun...

Processed antigen reacts selectively with lymphocytes bearing .appropriate surface immunoglobulin molecules resulting in the clonal proliferation of these cells, producing circulating immunoglobulin (humoral immunity) or non-circulating immunoglobulins (cellular immunity). High levels of circulating immunoglobulins (lgM & lgG) occur in protozoa and helminths infections. Reaginic antibodies a...
متن کاملThe Effect of A New Mixture of Sugar and Sugar-Alcohol (Lacritose) on Blood Glucose and Lipids and the Possible Adverse Reactions in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes: A Triple-Blind Randomized Clinical Trial
Background: A new sweetener with the commercial name of Lacritose has been recently produced, which is a combination of four simple sugars (lactose, fructose, sucrose, erythritol), with specific ingredients and percentages. This study aimed to assess glycemic response and short term gastrointestinal reactions in type 2 diabetic patients. Methods: In this triple-blind randomized clinical tria...

One of the most common outcomes of pulp inflammation is periapical granuloma formation. Existence of immune cells in these lesions showed involvement of both humoral and cellular immunity in the site. The presence of different antigens in the root canal causes production o various antibodies and consequent immunological reactions. Different theories have been proposed on periapical cysts. The m...
متن کاملImmunologic Evaluation of Drug Allergy
Hypersensitivity drug reactions (HDR) consist of an individual abnormal response with the involvement of the immunological system. In addition to specific immunological mechanisms where specific antibodies or sensitised T cells participate, release of inflammatory mediators by non-specific immunological recognition may also occur. Within this category are one of the most common groups of drugs,...
